- Video Cards with 8MB or less:
- -----------------------------
-
- If you have a video card with 8MB or less, depending on your video
- card and driver, you may experience slow cursor movement. To remedy
- this you can:
-
- a) Try disabling the hardware acceleration in your video card
- settings. See item (1) below for instructions on how to do
- this.
-
- b) Try running the game in a window instead of fullscreen. To do
- this, run RatMaster by double-clicking the app icon. In the
- startup dialog, click the "Options" button. In the Graphics
- Options section of the dialog, click on "Run In a Window".
- Click "OK" and then click the "Play Now!" button to play.
- You can also switch between windowed and fullscreen mode while
- the game is running by pressing Alt-ENTER.
-
-
- General Troubleshooting:
- -----------------------
-
- In general, if you are experiencing trouble with the graphics (slow
- animations, flashing etc...):
-
- 1) Disable Hardware Acceleration
-
- Try disabling or reducing the hardware acceleration of your video
- card settings. To do this:
-
- On Windows 95/98/ME:
-
- - Right-click on your "My Computer icon and choose "Properties"
- in the popup menu to bring up the "System Properties" dialog.
-
- - Click on the "Performance" tab and then click on the "Graphics"
- button. This will bring up the Advanced Graphics Settings
- dialog.
-
- - Now slide the "Hardware Acceleration" slider to the left to
- "None" so that DirectDraw accelerations are disabled.
-
- On Windows 2000/XP:
-
- - Right-click on your desktop and choose "Properties" in the
- popup menu to bring up the "Display Properties" dialog.
-
- - Click on the "Settings" tab and then click on the "Advanced..."
- button. This will bring up the video card settings dialog.
-
- - On Windows 2000, click on the "Troubleshooting" tab.
-
- - On Windows XP, click on the "Troubleshoot" tab.
-
- - Now slide the "Hardware Acceleration" slider to the left to
- "None" so that DirectDraw accelerations are disabled.
-
-
- 2) Try running the game without other applications in the background.
-
-
- 3) For Intel 810 Graphic Chipsets and Windows 2000:
-
- Intel 810 graphic chipsets had some driver problems with Windows 2000.
- If you're using an Intel graphics card, ensure that you have the
- latest drivers installed for your video card and AGP bus. Get the
- latest drivers from the website of your PC manufacturer.
-
- If your PC manufacturer does not provide drivers, Intel also provides
- some. However, they recommend most users get the ones specifically
- for their PC. The location of the Intel drivers is:
-
- http://developer.intel.com/design/software/drivers/platform/810.htm?iid=PCG+devside&
-
-
- 4) For ATI Video Cards:
-
- According to ATI:
-
- You may experience problems attempting to run DirectX/Direct3D based
- applications if the monitor type is set to "default" or "unknown".
- Symptoms may include, but are not limited to:
-
- a.. the application exiting to the Windows desktop when run
- b.. poor performance when running the application
- c.. hangs or error messages when running the application
-
- This issue can commonly be resolved by selecting a Windows provided
- monitor type which matches the monitor in use.
